Fruit Fiesta

台灣,一年四季皆盛產水果,從芒果、蓮霧、草莓、芭樂、桃子、李子、水梨,木瓜、西瓜、哈蜜瓜,到葡萄、釋迦、香蕉、鳯梨、楊桃……種類多樣,品質極佳且精緻好吃,讓熱愛水果的我,宛如是生活在天堂般。

All seasons are rich with fruits in Taiwan. It has many varieties, including mangoes, wax apples, strawberries, guava, peaches, plums, pears, papaya, watermelon, honeydew, grapes, custard apples, bananas, pineapple, star fruit... etc. They all have an excellent quality and delicious taste. I love fruit and feel almost living in a paradise.

台灣的水果之所以能夠舉世聞名,除了位於亞熱帶地區,有充足的日光和較長的夏季,及得天獨厚的地形與豐沛的雨量,相當適合水果生長外,還要歸功於台灣農民的勤奮實驗,與獨步的農業改良技術。台灣果農對於水果的細微口感和口味變化,皆努力深入研究及栽培,才造就台灣成功的水果傳奇。

Taiwan is world famous with its abundant variety of fruits, because of its sub tropical weather offering a plenty of sun light and long summer. The unique landform and plentiful rainfall are also suitable for the growth of fruits. Besides these, we also should thank all diligent farmers and their constant innovations of farming technique, which have improved the fruits’ texture and taste and created a legendary success in Taiwan.

在台灣除了品嚐好吃的水果外,還可以吃到以水果入菜的特別餐飲。位於台南縣楠西鄉的「果農之家」,就是一間將時令鮮果入菜,研發出各式各樣別出心裁的水果菜餚,讓來客可以享用別具風味「水果大餐」的在地餐廳。

Beside their delicious taste, we can also enjoy special dishes made with fruit in Taiwan. In Tainan County, Nansi Township, “Fruit House” is the place where seasonal fruits dishes are made. Guests are coming here to enjoy the “Fruit Fiesta”!

我們一群十幾人特地前往嚐鮮,想看看廚師們到底在「玩什麼花樣」……

A dozen of us came here to taste and wanted to find out what the chefs were really making….

一走進餐廳才剛坐下,服務人員就馬上送來一杯現榨果汁。果汁是由芒果、鳯梨及香瓜打成,好喝順口又清涼解渴,讓我們開始有了期待。

As soon as we walked in, the server brought us freshly squeezed juice blended with mango, pineapple and honeydew. They tasted so cool and delicious. We are ready for more…

這第一道是「蔬果雙拼」,主菜是涼拌的過貓與青木瓜絲。擺盤及顏色的搭配十分吸引人,讓人迫不及待的想來上幾口。果不負期望,真是清爽順口,相當的開胃好吃。

The first dish was “Veggie-Fruit Combination”, which was an appetizer made from Kuo-Mau and young papaya thread. The way the plate was set matched the colors of the veggie and fruit and was so attractive. We could not wait to have a bite. It totally exceeds our expectations. This dish was so good and indeed an excellent appetizer.

第二道是也頗受大家好評的「時果黃金魚」,酥脆的外皮、鮮嫩滑順的魚肉,再加上魚肉與水果味道搭配的恰到好處,讓這道料理很快的就在大家輪番的攻勢下,變得「面目全非」。

The second dish was also a very popular dish “The Fruit of Golded Fish”. It had crispy skin and tender fish meat, blended with the juice and taste of the fruits which made it just perfect. This dish was gone very fast by us!

這道「波蘿虎掌」主要的食材是紅燒燉肉、鳯梨與紅蘿蔔,看起來頗有賣相的它到底滋味如何呢?老實說,這紅燒燉肉處理的讓我頗驚豔的。肉質鮮嫩又夠入味,實在是好吃到極點,好吃到大夥吃不夠還想要再叫一份呢!

This dish is “Pineapple Tiger Palm” which mainly made with pork stew, pineapple, and carrots. It looks remarkable. But how was the taste? To be honest, I was amazed at how they stewed the pork. It was so tender, tasty and fresh. It was too good to be true and we almost wanted to order one more plate.

這道我不知叫什麼名,且叫它「水果蝦球西瓜盅」吧!它嚐起來有一點像鳯梨蝦球的味道,裡頭除了蝦球外,還有西瓜、蘋果等水果,算是一道很合普羅大眾口味的佳餚。

I don’t know the name of this dish, so let’s name it “Fruit Cup with Watermelon and Shrimp Balls”. It had flavors of pineapple, watermelon, apple and shrimp. This would be a popular dish.

這道不知名的菜,一致獲得大家的好評。賣相極佳引人垂涎,微酸微甜的特製葡萄醬汁,將葡萄、蝦漿及地瓜這三樣感覺完全不搭的食材,意外融合的相當好,實在是道特別又好吃的料理。

This unnamed dish was liked by all of us. It was selling great. With the combination of a light wine sauce, shrimp paste, and sweet potato, it became perfect. It is an unique and excellent dish.

「香蕉苜蓿芽」,這道也是我讚不絕口的一盤料理,用潤餅皮將香蕉、苜蓿芽及灑上酥脆的素肉鬆的內餡包覆起來食用。咬一口,香蕉的香甜與苜蓿芽的清新是絕佳的組合,而酥脆的素肉鬆讓整個口感多了層次,真是一道好好吃的料理。

“Banana Mushu Sprout” is one of my favorite dishes. Banana and mushu sprout are wrapped with spring roll skin and sprinkled with vegetarian meat floss on the top. With the sweetness from the banana, fresh smell of the mushu sprouts and the crispy vegetarian meat made it another great dish.

一般在中式餐廳吃飯,最後一道菜幾乎都是水果,而我們已經在吃水果大餐了,那最後一道會是什麼就另人相當好奇,當服務人員端上這最後一道時,大家都嚇眼了。「什麼?都吃的這麼飽了,誰還吃的下這麼大的三明治呀?」,看到就撐死了,我一點也沒有想要品嚐的慾望。

While eating in Chinese restaurants, the dessert always comes with fruit. We have been eating the fruit fiesta, so we were so curious about the final dish would be like. We were shocked when we saw the server brought us the last dish. “What? We are so full, and how can we eat these huge sandwiches?” We couldn’t even look at it, let alone the appetite to consume it.

心想,這道大概就乏人問津了吧!卻沒想到,其中一個朋友竟然伸出手拿了一塊,然後一口一口的吃起這個「水果脆皮酥」的超級大三明治。不僅如此,她竟然邊吃邊稱好,然後用極誘惑人心的表情在品嚐那個超級大的三明治。原本吃不下的人,全都受不了誘惑,紛紛動手及動口起來了,我也忍不住啃起那個超大三明治了。嗯~真的好吃~香酥的土司配上爽口的內餡,實在美味極了!

I thought that no one would be interested in eating the sandwich. However, a friend of ours took one piece and then little by little ate the “Fruit Crispy” super large sandwich. She even told us how good it was with a tempting expression on her face while she was eating. Although no one had the appetite, we eventually couldn’t resist the temptation. I also had a bite on the super large sandwich. Yum~ it was so good~ with crispy toasts and fresh stuffing and so delicious!

「果農之家」除了提供遊客大啖水果大餐外,還有規劃採果、生態園區及桃花心木林道供遊客悠閒散步,享受芬多精,是個值得來走走的好地方。

“Fruit House” is providing fruit fiesta to tourists and offers an area for guests to pick fruits, an ecological park for guests to stroll around and enjoy fresh air. This place is worth a visit..

It's interesting to see the different ways in which fruit is used in Taiwanese cuisine! In my country, fruit is used mainly for desert, and there are very, very few savory fruit dishes...the combination of fruit and meat is definitely unusual for us, but I think it's really yummy!
